Cheeky

Graphite, blue fine tip Sharpie (on bristol).

The word was Flippant.

Together in class, we decided she was British.

On my own, I decided she would have no legs.

3.12.2007

Just Because

graphite

because I know how much everyone loves it when I post worthless filler sketches.

3.04.2007

Better Late

graphite.

I realize I skimped on February's guy quota. (Norman doesn't quite count.) So here he is in his great, although late, glory.

Current favorite word: ambiguity.

3.02.2007

Fwoosh

blue BiC Pen.

I haven't finished this one, and probably never will. Alas.

Through the Grapevine

graphite

I was thinking of doing Illustration Friday this week (Communication), but decided not to submit after finishing the sketch.

The weather actually had the gall to pelt wet chunks of snow at me this yesterday morning while I walked to class. I am just so ready for bikini weather. Seriously. Bring it on.

2.19.2007

Freefall Motion

graphite.

I dreamt once that I walked on air,
standing hundreds of feet up off the streets.
But what I felt wasn't freedom or liberation.
It was a horrible, cold anticipation,
because I knew gravity would catch up with me.
I knew that with every step I took,
I was risking a devastating plummet,
but I kept on, one foot in front of the other.

When it finally hit me, I fell hard and just fell apart
crying, sobbing, kicking and screaming
all while plunging downward
at an acceleration of 9.8 meters per second squared.

Illustration Friday this week is Gravity. Nothing special. Just felt like participating again.

2.14.2007

Hearts

Wacom Tablet + Painter Essentials.

Norman, the Valentine Squid, wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day.

XOXO

2.10.2007

The Life Aquatic

Col-erase pencils.

I have decided to finish out this sketchbook with the water theme. Sometimes, this means adding random sea creatures into a picture to make it more aquatic.

1.28.2007

Ribbons

various ballpoint pens.

Scribbled my way through some insomnia during the dark hours of the morning with a black pen. Came back and added the rest of the color & background later in the day while watching poorly made television movies. In all honesty, not too much brain activity went into this.

1.27.2007

???

graphite

Choose your own adventure. What happens next? Minimum 100 words.

1.22.2007

Entangled

blue BiC pen.

...I don't know. I don't have an explanation, really.

My pen ran out of ink before I finished.

1.21.2007

Tentacle Spectacular

blue BiC round stic medium tip.

Did this to waste time. I can't sleep.

Anyway, I miss the Dior Boys of seasons past too. I do love a good planky boy here and there. (Nicked the pose from the new SS07 DH campaign.) Thought I'd do a pseudo-throwback to SS03 ...but underwater with a giant octopus.

Continuing the underwater theme, because I've recently been kinda fascinated by things with scales or tentacles. So, between the Krakens, Giant Cephalopods, Leviathans, Charybdis, and all that, I doubt I'll ever run out of fun sea monsters to entertain me. Mmm... yay.

1.20.2007

Submerge

graphite.

I watched Discovery specials on squid and jellyfish the other day. Très intéressant.

Favorites from Milan FW07: Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Costume National, Moschino, & Burberry. (men.style.com) Thoughts?

1.11.2007

Harvest Moon

acrylic on canvas board.

I cropped out the ugly part.

1.09.2007

A Krill Lick

both (mostly) matte acrylic on 8x10 canvas boards.

See? I'm still alive. And instead of doing something useful, I painted these.

Come on, the peacock is sort of guy quota, right? It is a boy because it has a pretty tail.

The look in the second one is a little bit Salvatore Ferragamo SS07, but not really. ...moreso the girl than the giant snake with cow horns.

12.21.2006

It's That Time of Year

Felt pen + Photoshop.

2006 Holiday CD cover art. Comment or e-mail me for tracklistings.

Merry Christmas (or Chrismahanukkwanzika, should you so prefer), and I wish you the best for this upcoming New Year.

In other news, I have noticed that I have fallen dreadfully behind on guy quota and have made a note to be better about it henceforth.

XOXO! Love.

11.21.2006

No Chair

graphite.

sit.

Hey guys, Man cardigans!!! You have no excuse to not be stylish. Ha!

10.31.2006

Llamaface!

graphite.

I like llamas.

10.24.2006

Cosmic

felt tip pen, rollerball ink pen, graphite.

The Dreamweaver Demo today in class was just so fascinating.

10.18.2006

Twinkles

Graphite, Photoshop.

Yeah.

It's been kind of crazy lately. Did some things I shouldn't have. Just being a stupid girl, I suppose.

10.07.2006

Squishy Squishy Squishy

Graphite, Photoshop.

It's a little sloppy, but Forest, this one's for you. It seemed like it would be fun to draw. (Velvet minidress by Jovovich-Hawk)

I don't like commenting on my own posts, even if replying to previous comments.

In order to get married, I'd need a man.

10.05.2006

Sassy

graphite

Finally got my scanner. It's pretty sweet.

Thanks to Jenny and Ashley for being my elbow models. (I left that stumpy wrist for you, Jenny.)

Wedding things this weekend. Very exciting.

9.27.2006

Stalemate

Photoshop.

This one is so emo that it hurts. Disgusting, isn't it?

9.13.2006

Hideous

Photoshop.

I now unleash this ugly on each and every one of you. Someday, I hope you may find it in your heart to forgive me.

Due to my nifty dry throat, tea has become my new best friend. Well, tea and slushies.

9.03.2006

Fields of Gold

prismacoloredpencils.

I am very blatantly wasting time.

Homework is the suck. I blame you, Jan Tschichold.

8.27.2006

Summer Scribbles

Illustrator.

I saw Little Miss Sunshine on Friday. I highly recommend it.

Nothing else to say really. Nothing else I feel like sharing, anyway.

8.15.2006

Textures

Corel Painter Essentials.

No scanner. No pencil sketches for you until I get a hold of one. Just speedy tablet sketches. Paint effects are fun.

8.08.2006

He Has No Butt

Col-Erase.

It's true. Sad, but true.

I'm totally sketchdumping. Hope no one minds too much.

No Promises, No Demands

Col-Erase.

Speed sketch of the dress-thing from the video for Love is a Battlefield (circa 1983). Here is a link to the video on YouTube. Oh Pat Benatar. Shimmy your way into our hearts with crazy hair and slouchy boots.

Going out of town tomorrow with Anna for a few days. Moving into the apartment on the 13th. School starts on the 17th.

Wanted

Col-erase. (My scanner hates colors.)

Illustration Friday this week is Capture.

That's a lot of money. So maybe I got carried away with the zeros. It didn't feel right to stop at 7000, or even 70000. We'll just imply that Lacey's been a very bad girl. It's a rather Vogue-esque reward poster. She should be so proud.

7.31.2006

Bedhead

Rose & Pink Col-Erase pencils. (Pink seemed like an appropriate color.)

Oh. Don't even pretend like you've never done it.

7.28.2006

Post-Yawn

graphite, 01 technical pen, photoshop.

Alphonse Mucha inspired.

Halfway through, I discovered that I really, really don't have the patience for this kind of thing.

7.25.2006

Fire versus Water

01 technical pen, Photoshop.

Illustration Friday is Opposites. So I did Fire vs. Water.

Admittedly, I like the water-half better. Even with the silly-looking Orca. Because fire is hard.

7.23.2006

Critter Friends

graphite.

It's a gift, you know, when your hand smells of friendship.

7.22.2006

Uh Oh Hello

Prismacolor Markers & Pencils, Graphite

Colors are fun.

Number 2 has a sortov blatant reference. Oh that Prada Wonderboy...

7.21.2006

Silent Sounds

Graphite

I like this one conceptually, but not how it turned out. I might revisit it later.

I'm also looking for a pair of black patent pumps for under 30 dollars. (For fun, mostly.) So far, all I can find is a 4-inch spike on Zappos. Usually, any higher than 3 or 3.5 inches means I get a little wobbly. Hm. Ideas?

7.20.2006

Throwback

graphite, photoshop

It's a purple dress. I got tired of it and didn't actually finish.

Feeling restless lately. Must be the heat.

Things I am listening to:
Gettysburg - Ratatat
Poor Innocent Boys - Cazals
Retreat (Phones Remix) - the Rakes
I Engineer - Animotion
Hip Hop - Dead Prez

7.19.2006

Flashback

Graphite, ...Paint Shop.

I told myself to draw something less trashy.

Everybody's gone or busy or not talking to me. Or any combination of the three.

7.16.2006

Hand Signals

Graphite, Photoshop

Eh. Whatever.

7.12.2006

Rain

Graphite, Photoshop. Quick Sketch.

I enjoyed yesterday evening's downpour immensely.

...I am clearly too lazy to draw clothes, much less attempt to make them look wet. So, underwear it is.

7.08.2006

Eat This City

graphite, photoshop.

Just playing around. Illustration Friday this week is Skyline.

I saw a spider on my desk just now, but lost track of it while looking for something to kill it with. So not cool. That's going to make me paranoid for the rest of the night.

7.05.2006

...Sticky

Graphite, Prismacolor pencils.

Illustration Friday is sticky. This was my only idea. Sadly.

7.04.2006

Blow Dry

Graphite.

Feeling kinda goofy today.

Mildly Unamused

Graphite

Hat + Man Cardigan.

Frankly, Boys, I'll bet you only wish you were this stylin'.
