Happy Season's Eatings!
Acrylgouache, ink, colored pencil, & Photoshop.
Now that the Holidays are over, I feel like I can post this custom Xmas card I did for my sister and bro-in-law, featuring their amazing pets.

Hummingbirds
Mixed Media.
Saves time to just say mixed media, right? If you must know, it's the same materials and techniques as the last one, just with different results.
Did you know that a hummingbird's heartbeat can reach up to 1260 beats per minute? An interesting fact with no correlation to a Katy Perry song.

Halt! wHoo goes there?
Ink, Watercolor, Gouache, Aging + Cracking Varnish, Oil paint rub.
Sort of an involved process, making the use of several tiny bottles with warnings about flammability and proper ventilation. Personally, I prefer to work more simply with less materials and less fuss, but I have to admit that this method yields some pretty interesting results.
It appears that Mr. Owl is suspicious of you. Appropriate for Halloween, yes?

Hands and Birds
Pencil Studies.
Some of you may be wondering what I've been doing for school. It's some of this, some of that, some probably undue amount of stress, and a whooooooole lot of coffee.
Hand studies are probably the most annoying thing about drawing classes. And it always me takes several pages of ridiculous failures in order to get back into the swing of it. Knuckles, psssht.
Also, here are some grackles being grouchy. Because that is all they live to do.

Guitar Sounds
Pencil.
Here's a line drawing for some class work. No likeness is intended, but it is based off a photo of St. Vincent that you may find here.

Complacent
col-erase pencil.
Is it almost next month already? Time is flying by. Oy.
I have sort of an obsession with drawing wavy hair.

Movin' and Groovin'
Graphite.
I spent an evening watching music videos and doing figure doodles of the dancers. Practicing simpler lines, motion and fluidity. Stuff like that. You know.
Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video still cracks me up almost 4 years later. Sigh.

Mug, Pear, Gourd
Graphite.
We're gonna pretend that I didn't do this last year in Basic Illustration, and that I didn't post date this post back a week, okay? All right. Sweet.
Triiiangulation!

The Pood
08 Zig Technical Pen.
This is what she is thinking just about all the time. She wants to be everybody's best friend—all the people, dogs, and other creatures alike.

Windswept Wavy Wobbles
Staedtler triplus fineliner.
Outside of drawing for class, I haven't been able to do much except make meaningless marks with whatever writing utensil is in my hand. So for now, you get some of my nicer squiggles, and let's just leave it at that.

Biker Chicks
Pen & Ink, Photoshop. 18''x24''.
Screen-printed Edition of 50. (Apologies for the photography.)
Hipster lady cyclists rank pretty highly on my fun-to-draw list.
I had the pleasure of being a part of ARTCRANK ATX this year, and it's been a really amazing experience from the get-go. I've never had my work screen printed before. I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks to Industry Print Shop for doing such a great job.
Remaining posters that didn't sell at the ARTCRANK Opening this past Friday are going to be on sale for $40 at Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop here in Austin through March 18th.
Otherwise, I have a few extra prints in my possession, and I'm sure we can strike some sort of deal. ;)
It was an honor to be chosen to participate in such a great event alongside so many other talented people, and I hope to be considered again when it comes back around next year!

Papermate Flair felt tip pen. (Classy!)
The best part about designing for weddings is drawing pretty flowers.

Wingback Armchair
Graphite, powdered and the pencil-type.
Working out a style/mood/feel for the drawings for my Illustration project.
Forgot what a mess powdered graphite makes. But it does give great tone.
